It all began in 2005 when I lost my mother to Alzheimer's. At the time of diagnosis, I asked myself what could I do to make a difference since there were no cures for this disease or other related dementias. I desperately searched for a way to channel my frustration and ultimate sense of loss into something positive. This disease was robbing my family of someone we loved...how could I make sure it didn't happen to me or someone else I cared for? I decided that the only way to fight it was to help find a cure and that meant raising money for research. I joined forces with a nationally renowned designer, Diane Katzman, and came up with a plan to sell something of beauty and emotion that would remind us of those whose memories were fading. The Keepsake Memory Bracelet with a "Forget Me Not" Vintage Heart Charm was created to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of our local Alzheimer's Chapter. Thus began my journey in keeping the memory of my mother, Imogene Turner, alive for myself, as well as my children and their children. In the years since, we've added the matching necklace & earrings to the fund raising collection, of which proceeds are sent to the National Alzheimer's Association for research throughout the country . I think of my mother whenever I wear my bracelet... it makes a wonderful gift… for yourself or anyone else who has lost a person they loved to this devastating disease!
